Superstar Kenya TV hero Jeff Koinange (seen below with Oprah) has just posted a video interview in four parts, recorded with Funk in Nairobi last week.
Jeff is a legend in East Africa. While his renowned vocal style is often imitated, the original is easily best. There’s a lighthearted, feelgood factor to the interview, but don’t be fooled: Jeff is a serious journalist. Note this pic of Jeff with Kofi Anaan:
Holding a BA in Broadcast Journalism from New York University, Jeff has done US network TV stints with both ABC and NBC. He’s a former Reuters reporter, and a former bureau chief of CNN West Africa.
Jeff was awarded an Emmy in 2006, for exemplary coverage of Hurricane Katrina. That coverage also won him and his team a prestigious Peabody Award. Jeff has also won a Prix Bayeux (war correspondents only) for his war coverage in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Here’s Jeff with the great Nelson Mandela:
Jeff’s entertaining show tells the story of Funk’s beginnings on a poor farm in Iowa, how he worked his way up through medical school before switching into entrepreneurship, and discovering success: not just in North America, but around the world.
The videos encourage Kenyans and the African diaspora to get behind Race4Change as it is JUST SO COOL! You can do that with a quick Race4Change donation here. DO IT NOW and then watch the videos: they’re great!
