Safari Start Video with Travis Pastrana and Women’s World Banking

Funk Factory Films have just sent over a GREAT new video, featuring Travis Pastrana talking about R4C, some footage from the start with Steve Funk, and words from Mary Ellen Iskenderian (below with Funk), CEO of Women’s World Banking: the largest financial organisation in the world explicitly dedicated to women and their needs. Mary Ellen navigated Andrew Doig in the Spirit of Kenya today, and may well drive the car tomorrow. Excellent!

The mission of the Women’s World Banking global network is to expand the economic assets, participation and power of low-income women and their households, by helping them access financial services, knowledge and markets.

WWB has been empowering women around the world for more than 30 years, and we are proud to call WWB our partner. Your donation can help a woman like Sylvia, who took her first loan of $600 from WWB’s affiliate Uganda Finance Trust twelve years ago. She used the loan to open Queen’s Hair Beauty Salon, which today is a successful business.

Sylvia believes that she is helping African women by increasing their self-esteem and by providing a venue for women to come to together to bond and discuss business. Sylvia is loyal to her local Finance Trust, because it was the only institution that would give her a loan when she needed it. She also has a savings account with the same institution, which allows her to save for her emergencies, home improvements and education. As a result of having access to basic credit and savings, she has been able to send her five children to school and her oldest is now attending law school. Such is the prosperity and empowerment only microfinance can bring.

We think this is a beautiful video. Enjoy it and don’t forget to donate to our Race4Change!
