Our Logistician Andrew Doig

Andrew has lived all of his life, 40 years, in East Africa. He grew up in a motorsport family where his father David Doig was co-driver to the legendary safari rally driver Joginder Singh, the first man to win the Safari Rally three times (twice with his father).

Andrew raced in Kenya motorcross as a child and was the 1983 Kenya Junior Motorcross champion. Later he studied agricultural marketing and business administration in the UK. After university, he farmed French beans in Tanzania for seven years, followed by wheat in Kenya for two years.

 

Andrew completed his first rally as a driver in 1996, driving a Land Rover 110. Following that rally, he worked in South Sudan for a year running the workshops for an off-road truck company, and became the MoTeC engine management systems agent for East Africa in 2001. He started his own business renting out plant and machinery and building rally cars in 2004. Andrew also specializes in building dams and reservoirs for the horticultural industry in Kenya. In 2009, he has been a co-driver, driver trainer (for Alex Horsey) and mechanic for the Team Civicon Rally Team, whose lead driver Peter Horsey recently won the Pirelli Star Award for Africa and will compete in 6 rounds of next years World Rally Championship as a ‘works’ Pirelli driver.

Andrew is the logistician for the Race4Change Peugout 504 rally team.
